Spiritual Gifts

Each of us has been blessed in a variety of ways with God given talents. Before I die I hope I can say I have used up all the gifts God gave me and shared them with those I love.

Time for a New PC

Today is a beautiful day. It was incredibly windy and rained on and off, mostly off until the evening came. It was blustery, a real Winnie the Poo blustery kind of day you might even say!

My husband and I both got new computers this week. Both our hard drives on our old computers blew out about the same time and threw us into fits. So off we went to buy new ones. We both got the same make and model, HP Pavilion 8 GB memory, 1 T HD,  ...phew ~ that is a mouth full! What all that means is they are fast and they are wonderful!

The Direction We Go In...

This poem is a favorite of mine I first read in the 1970's...

But to every mind there openeth,
A way, and way, and away,
A high soul climbs the highway,

And the low soul gropes the low,
And in between on the misty flats,
The rest drift to and fro.

But to every man there openeth,
A high way and a low,
And every mind decideth,
The way his soul shall go.

One ship sails East,
And another West,
By the self-same winds that blow,
'Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales,
That tells the way we go.

Like the winds of the sea
Are the waves of time,
As we journey along through life,
'Tis the set of the soul,
That determines the goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

Free Motion Machine Quilting

Free motion machine quilt is an art form of freedom of expression where the possibilities are limitless. If you can imagine it you can sew it! The photo on the right shows the front side of a teapot trivet I made for my friend and neighbor Lora. I used a copper metal trivet for design inspiration.

The photo on the left shows the backside and reveals the teapot's details more clearly. A small project like this one is an excellent beginner project for free motion machine quilting.

Kitties in my Sewing Room

Here is one good reason to close the door to my sewing room. This is why I must wash every quilt upon it's completion. Miss Freckles is a rescued kitty and as such she really does get away with a lot at our house. It's taken three years for her to come "out of her shell". She had one tiny kitten and was hard pressed to find food for herself and the kitten when we discovered her hanging around the outside of our house. Her life is free of worries now and she is becoming so sweet and friendly. We just don't have the heart to scold her when she is "bad".

This new pink fabric quilt I am working on is a practice piece for learning how to use the walking foot that came with my sewing machine. I have had it for 5 years now and have not used it once; the walking foot that is. I found a wonderful book that illustrates the use of it and I am having a great time with this small quilt, a lap sized one.

A Cute New Blouse

This cute little blouse is super easy to make and is made from
Simplicity pattern #2596. I embellished it with two appliqued flowers that have little buttons sewn on for the centers.

It's an easy to make pattern and has endless possibilities for personal creativity.
